Personal Development

HR Intern

  • What skills did you acquire or further develop during this experience?

  • What specific contributions did you make in this role?

  • The skill that sticks out to me most that  I acquired during this would be conflict management. The skills I developed further would be communication, time management, as well as learning a lot more overall about HR and HR systems.

  • Specific contributions I made in this role would be the hiring process, payroll, as well as a training module for our employees.

Academic Connections

HR Intern

  •  How has what you have learned in the classroom influenced the role you played during your internship?

  • Reflect on your internship experience and compare how your classes (refer to specific courses) have helped prepare you for your work or make suggestions on what courses you wish you had taken or wish were offered.

  • Note any practices you have observed or have been taught on the job which were contradictory to what you have been taught.

  •  Taking a course dedicated to Human Resources was the most beneficial for me during my internship. It laid out a lot of the basics I would need to know going into it, which gave me a ton of insight on what would be expected of me.

  • My internship experience was great! I had such a supportive team who allowed me to learn and ask questions without feeling like a bother. They truly cared about my experience with their organization and always did their best to allow me to feel comfortable and learn as much as possible.

  • Human resources does not have to be a strict and unwelcoming environment. I went into the internship expecting to be very harsh and strict, but it is all about building connections and finding interactive ways to get your point across and get your tasks completed.
